South Carolina student wins lottery after surviving brain surgery

COLUMBIA, S. Car. — Collin Goff, a student at the University of South Carolina, had had a challenging year. He was recovering from brain surgery, but very thankful to have another Christmas with his family.

As was tradition, Goff’s grandmother purchased a pair of scratch tickets for each of her grandchildren. Unlike years previous, he quickly realized that he had won $125,000.

“I was shocked. We all were. It still hasn’t completely hit my yet,” Goff explained.

His plans for the new found fortune? Goff says he isn’t planning to purchase anything extravagant. For now, he’s simply satisfied to enjoy a happier start to 2019.
